Miley the Bactrian camel baby is now almost 9 months old! Her floppy back hump that so many visitors commented on (humps don’t have any bones so you can’t “break” them) is now standing up. Miley and her mom Renee are trading exhibit use with her dad Franklin. You can see Miley’s thick coat makes these Indiana winters seem like nothing.

The two female jaguar cubs are 3.5 months old now and are more than ready to be named! The naming contest that was linked through www.meskerjagcam.com invited the public to submit names followed by a voting period that ended December 18th. The two winning names will be announced on January 5th at 1:30pm in front of the jaguar exhibit in AMAZONIA.

UPDATE: Zimba and Maya are the names of our new jaguar cubs! Congratulations to Dot Skelton and Dr. Michelle Galen Cabrera for submitting the winning names!

The sand cat in the Zoo’s Nocturnal exhibit is a very active little guy. He loves to stalk and pounce on his many toys and interact with the public. But the other day he was finally caught holding still! The “lying on the log” pose is a favorite of cats, just ask the jaguars.

 Donna the hippo may be the oldest hippo in the world, but she still knows how to have fun. Every morning as her pool is filling, Donna takes advantage of the strong spray, opening her mouth and moving around to let it hit different parts of her body. Donna also enjoys playing with hippo-sized balls and barrels. Here are a few shots:
